Madrid Trip 2024

November 2024 Madrid School Tour

Day 1

The boys had an early start to their first day. On landing in Madrid our group had their first taste of free time in sunny Madrid when they were given an hour for lunch. Their first port of call was the beautiful and impressive Reina Sofia Museum where they had the opportunity to view Picasso’s famous Guernica painting.

From here the boys went directly to the Santiago Barnabeau Stadium. The excitement was palpable as they queued up outside and they enjoyed the self-guided tour. The visit to the stadium was followed by dinner in Trattoria Pinocchio restaurant and then on to Bowling Pleniluno for the final activity of a very long day.

The boys were well ready to make their way upstairs to their rooms in their very comfortable accommodation, La Troupe Hostel.

Day 2

The boys had an early start, breakfast was served at 7.30, before they were collected by the coach, and we headed off to the World heritage City of Toledo. This day, surprisingly for some of the boys, was the highlight of the tour. They were very lucky to have two very enthusiastic History Teachers, Mr O’Brien and Mr Nee, to help guide them around this beautiful ancient city. This city famously combines Arabic, Gothic and Renaissance architecture. It is known as The City of the Three Cultures, combining cultural influences of Christians, Muslims and Jews throughout its history. The narrow streets with its quirky shops combined with the many stunning views and ancient buildings kept the boys amused right up to the minute we left at 5pm.

After dinner, the boys ventured out to the bustling Christmas market.

Day 3

The boys enjoyed a full day in Parque Warner.
