The Special Educational Needs (SEN) Department plays a central role in promoting an inclusive, caring, and student-centred environment within our school.
Our aim is to ensure that all students have equal access to education and are supported to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Working in partnership with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and relevant external agencies, the SEN team identifies and responds to individual learning needs. This includes early screening and assessment, reviewing professional reports, and monitoring student progress to ensure that appropriate supports are in place at every stage of a student’s educational journey.
A range of tailored supports is provided, including in-class support, small group and one-to-one interventions along with the development of Student Support Plans. The department also facilitates the use of assistive and digital technologies to enhance learning, and offers guidance to teachers on differentiation and inclusive teaching practices across all subject areas.
The SEN Department coordinates applications for reasonable accommodations in state examinations, such as those in the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate, ensuring that students can demonstrate their abilities in a fair and supportive environment. Special Needs Assistants (SNAs) also play an important role in supporting students with additional care needs within the classroom setting.

We are committed to creating a positive, supportive atmosphere where students feel valued, understood, and empowered to become confident, independent learners, while also preparing them for further education, training, and life beyond school.
